The jury’s decision to not charge Jose Zarate with murder in the Kate Steinle case has shocked many in this country. Zarate, an illegal immigrant who had been deported 5 times, was arrested on murder charges after a hand gun he was holding discharged and struck Kate Steinle while walking with her father on a boardway in San Francisco. During the trial, the judge ruled that Zarate’s immigration status and former arrest records could not be used in the trial. How do you feel about this verdict?
