WE THREE ON AGT

I first saw the sibling trio, “We Three” on America’s Got Talent. As with most featured AGT acts there was a short video piece about the group. In it we learn that siblings Joshua, 27, Bethany, 24, and Manny, 21 lost their mother to cancer. The performed an original song called “Heaven’s Not Far Away”. It was a song they wrote to honor their mother but written from their mother’s perspective. It’s an incredibly emotional and beautiful song. Last night “We Three” were back on AGT with another original song titled “Lifeline”. In the words of lead singer Manny, “This song is about dealing with your demons, and coming to the realization that sometimes in life it’s ok to not be ok. And that being vulnerable can be really really powerful.”. Check out the performance of “Lifeline” from last night and a lyric video for their song “Heavens Not Far Away”.

This year’s song of the summer is a ballad, not a banger. Here’s what that says about us

For the past 14 weeks and counting, the top Billboard spot has been held by a love ballad: Alex Warren's "Ordinary." As Berklee College of Music professor and forensic musicologist Joe Bennett notes, the February release is "a fair bit slower than the mean average for the Hot 100, or for a historical song of the summer."
