WE ARE WESTSIDE

Today marks the 17th Anniversary of the Westside School shootings. An event that not only changed the lives of so many students and faculty back on March 24th, 1998, but also changed this community and state forever. It was a beautiful, sunny Tuesday morning in Northeast Arkansas when Mitchell Johnson and Andrew Golden, both Westside Middle School students, pulled the fire alarm at the school. As students and teachers began exiting the building, the two young men opened fire from a near by wooded area killing five.

So today, on this beautiful, sunny Tuesday morning, we remember those who lost their lives 17 years ago.
