Little did we know Jordan Smith’s blind audition on The Voice was just the beginning of an incredible story of a young man who was different from what society says is normal. And, he’s not normal. He’s a big, chunky, baby faced kid with the voice of an angel. I can only imagine how this awkward, over-weight, geeky looking guy was treated by other kids growing up. And now to see him have this moment in the spotlight is truly inspiring. It is easy to laugh at Jordan…until he starts singing. As soon as he opens his mouth, the room is silenced until the last note of the song. Then Jordan stands on the stage and humbly accepts the ovation of cheering and applause from an audience unable to stay in their seats. Here is Jordan singing “Mary Did You Know” from last night’s finale on The Voice. It’s a beautiful song with a beautiful meaning enhanced by Jordan Smith’s amazing voice.

As Berklee College of Music professor and forensic musicologist Joe Bennett notes, the February release is "a fair bit slower than the mean average for the Hot 100, or for a historical song of the summer."
