Tomorrow is the deadline for retailers to switch to new EMV “chip” credit cards. It’s an effort from card companies to make the cards more secure and reduce fraud. Banks and merchants who do not have the equipment in place to accommodate the new credit cards will be fully liable for any fraud that may happen with the traditional credit cards with the magnetic strips. The problem…many business are not ready. And, if you haven’t received a new EMV card from your credit card company, don’t worry. Over half of credit cards users haven’t received the new cards or are even aware of the change.
