The owner of a California donut store has challenged Ariana Grande’s sequence of events, insisting she was rude to staff and spat on food. The pop star was caught on camera licking doughnuts on the counter during her 15-minute stint in Lake Elsinore’s Wolfee Donuts and stating “I hate America” when a staff member brought out a tray of treats. Grande has released a statement apologizing for what she said, insisting she merely wanted to comment on America’s obesity problems – and it came across all wrong. But store owner, Joe Marin, has taken issue with her claims the doughnuts she licked were for a friend. He was not in the store at the time but has since reviewed security camera footage and tells Us Weekly his celebrity visitor was a real pain. Marin explains, “She was being rude. She kept telling my employee – an experienced doughnut server – she came to buy six doughnuts. She kept wanting the doughnuts in the back because my bakers were baking at that time. So my employee kept going in the back to go get the doughnuts that they were baking. Then she brought them out there and put them on top of the doughnut display, and she (Grande) sent her to go get some more. “She was looking around, and that’s when I saw she was licking two of the doughnuts. Then she went to another tray that was on top and there was a tray of powdered doughnuts. So I zoomed (the camera) into her mouth, and the powdered ones, she did not lick them, she spit (sic) on those. She spit on one of them, and she dared that guy she was seeing (dancer Ricky Alvarez) and he spit on it, too. I saw they were getting a kick out of it.” Marin regrets the donuts the “Problem” star and her boyfriend spat on were later served to customers by the unsuspecting servers. He adds, “I didn’t see who bought them because they were mixed. Somewhere out there the donuts ended up with a customer because that night we ended up selling out.”
