Back on March 9th, 1959, a new doll made it’s debut at the American International Toy Fair in New York. It was the Barbie Doll. Barbie, the brain child of Matell Inc co-founders Ruth and Elliot Handler, was an instant success. Since then it is estimated that over a billion Barbie Dolls have been sold around the world in over 150 countries. Watch this video about the history of the Barbie Doll.
