HOME RUN FOR A FRIEND

Over the weekend Jose Fernandez, the ace pitcher for the Miami Marlins was tragically killed in a boating accident. He was only 24 years old. Monday night the Marlins played the Mets. Dee Gordan, good friend and teammate of Fernandez was the lead off hitter to start the game. On the 3rd pitch wearing Fernandez’s batting helmet, Gordan sent the ball over the wall for a lead off home run. The crowd erupted. As Gordan touched home plate he couldn’t hide his emotions as several of his teammates came up to hug him. A touching moment for Gordan, The Marlins and baseball fans everywhere.
