Today, Friday September 23rd, is the Autumnal Equinox. It’s the official end of Summer and the beginning of Fall. The word Equinox means “equal night” in Latin. Because the Earth tilts on it’s axis, the Equinox signals the point in which the sun passes over the equator giving us the same amount of day and night time hours. After today the Autumnal equinox the days will begin to get shorter and the nights longer until the process reverses during the Winter Solstice on December 21st.
