JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) –

Downtown Jonesboro lost a Mexican restaurant on Tuesday.

Where the Don José frog sign once stood, now stands 2 “for lease” signs.

Alejandro Mercado owns all the Don José in Region 8 and said he closed down the location because he did not have enough customers to pay the lease.

Mercado said they’re keeping all of their other locations including the other Jonesboro location on Wilkins.

He also said they hope to reopen somewhere downtown sometime in the future if they find a place that suits them.

Mercado did not confirm whether or not any employees lost their job after this decision.
