Jonesboro, AR – JonesboroRightNow.com – A Tyronza man is facing multiple charges after police said he harassed his daughter and threatened to shoot multiple people following her move from his home.

District Judge Tommy Fowler found probable cause to charge 52-year-old Robert L. McClain with the following:

  • First-degree stalking (Class B felony)
  • First-degree terroristic threatening/threatens physical injury or property damage (Class D felony)
  • Communicating a false alarm/cause action by an official or agency (Class A misdemeanor)

According to the probable cause affidavit, on May 17, McClain’s 20-year-old daughter reported to police that after recently moving out of her father’s home, he would show up to her new home multiple times, use his spare key to her vehicle, and turn it on in the middle of the night. She also said that he also left a note in the door stating, “I got you.”

The victim also recalled an incident on April 24 where McClain called police and told them she was at a stranger’s home and was in trouble. However, the location was actually her mother’s home, McClain’s ex-wife, which he knew to be her home at the time. The victim said McClain had no reason to believe she was in danger.

Witnesses provided police screenshots of messages from McClain where he threatened to shoot various people if his daughter did not call or text him back. Family members of McClain said that he would keep a firearm on him at all times. In a recorded phone call with McClain on May 20, he told a detective that he sent the messages to his daughter to “intimidate” her to do what he wants her to do. He added he was out of state and would not be back in for a week or more.

Around 7 a.m. on May 22, McClain was arrested after leaving his home in Tyronza.

In addition to the $250,000 bond, McClain was ordered to wear a GPS ankle monitor and to have no contact with his daughter. He is also required to have a mental health evaluation before he is released.

McClain’s next court appearance is scheduled for July 30. If convicted on all charges, he faces up to 27 years in prison and fines up to $27,500.
