Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – The Stage Theater Co. will be presenting “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever: The Musical” in early December to celebrate the holiday season.

The musical, based on the 1972 children’s book and later 2024 movie of the same name, tells the story of the Herdmans, the so-called “worst kids in the history of the world,” as they crash Sunday school and demand parts in the upcoming Christmas pageant. Director Grace Bradley and the Reverend work to, not only help the Herdmans see the true meaning of Christmas, but also for the community to see them in a better light.

“It’s hilarious fun for the whole family, and it’s just good, old-fashioned fun,” said Abby Broadway, executive director of the Stage Theater Co. “It’ll get everyone in the Christmas spirit.”

Broadway said this is the first time the Stage Theater Co. has performed this musical. The cast and crew are made up of over 60 children and adults from all over Northeast Arkansas. ARPets Hospital is sponsoring the show.

Tickets are $15 and can be purchased online here or at the door. The show will be performed at the Nettleton Performing Arts Center, located at 4205 Paradise St. Showtimes are Dec. 6 at 6 p.m. and Dec. 7 at 2 p.m.

“I just hope people come out and support these kids and adults and support their community,” said Broadway. “[They] can watch a beautiful Christmas story.”

While “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever: The Musical” is the Stage Theater Co.’s last show of the 2025 season, Broadway said 2026’s season is “jam-packed,” with shows including “High School Musical,” “The Phantom of the Opera,” and more. Click here for more information about the 2026 season.

The Stage Theater Co. is a Jonesboro-based nonprofit that hosts various theater events throughout the year with the goal of creating “enriching theatrical experiences” for the community to participate in.
