Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – Strong winds associated with a line of thunderstorms moving through Northeast Arkansas has caused scattered power outages amid reports of wind damage.

Craighead Electric Cooperative reported 693 customers without power around 7:00pm. Most of the outages were concentrated North of Paragould, South of Harrisburg and near Bono. The number of outages was over 1,000 by 7:30pm

City Water and Light Jonesboro’s outage map indicated 29 customers without power West of Main Street just after 7:00pm.

Entergy Arkansas reported 2,500 customers out of power statewide, but only 16 customers out in Craighead County.

The National Weather Service said a 52-mph peak wind gust was recorded at the Jonesboro Airport’s Automated Weather Station (AWOS) at 6:04pm.

An RV was reportedly turned over on its top West of Bono. There was also damage to a storage building roof reported near the same area.

In Paragould, a social media post showed a trampoline that had been blown into a backyard landing upside down. It wasn’t clear exactly where the trampoline originated.

No injuries had been reported from the storms.

The cold front that caused the line of storms to develop continues to push through Arkansas ushering in much colder air. At 7:00pm temperatures across Arkansas ranged from 71 degrees at West Memphis to 28 degrees at Rogers.

Winds in Jonesboro are expected to remain brisk, gusting as high as 45mph during the night. The temperature by sunrise in Jonesboro should be down to 27 degrees and will only reach 35 for the high on Monday with continued gusty winds.
