Jonesboro, AR – JonesboroRightNow.com – Stephanie Hoffman won the Republican primary for Craighead County tax collector, winning by 2,989 votes.

According to unofficial election results, Hoffman defeated the only other candidate in the race, Jenny Crisler. Hoffman received 72.22% of the vote, while Crisler received 27.78%. Since no Democratic candidates filed for tax collector, Hoffman will run unopposed in the November general election.

“I’m truly excited,” said Hoffman. “I was with my family, and we were all just extremely excited and thanking God for the opportunity.”

She added, “I had given it to God and put a lot of faith in God and just asked for peace. It’s either His will and He wants me here, or it’s not, and I found peace in that. I was shocked, and I was very thankful.

When asked what her goals for the first year were, Hoffman said, “There are some things that I want to look at with paying taxes online. There’s a fee, it’s like a 3.5% fee.” She explained she’d be looking at what other collectors are using that don’t charge a fee.

She also said she’d be looking at the property tax relief fund. “I have heard, at the state level, that the property tax relief fund, which is our homestead tax credit, I have heard that they have a pretty good amount of money that we might be seeing that go up,” she said. “I’m going to follow up with that and see if we’re going to have a higher homestead tax credit next year.”

Hoffman has worked in the Craighead County Treasurer’s Office for six and a half years, currently serving as deputy treasurer. Prior to working for the county, she worked in accounting for over three years. She replaces Wes Eddington, who announced in 2025 that he planned to retire.

“They do a great job,” Hoffman said of Eddington and his office. “They get things done.”

Hoffman added that she is grateful for her family, the voters, and the volunteers who have helped.
