Little Rock, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – Sept. 12, 2025 – David Peacock has been appointed to the Arkansas State Board of Education, Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders announced Friday.

Peacock, whose term will expire on June 30, 2032, is replacing Dr. Sarah Moore.

“After faithfully serving in the United States Marine Corps for over a decade, David quickly became one of our state’s top business leaders – something that gives him the expertise we need to make sure every Arkansas student graduates ready to enroll, enlist, or become employed,” Sanders said in a news release. “He’s passionate about workforce readiness, literacy programs, and education freedom, and I know he’ll be an incredible asset on our State Board of Education. With leaders like David helping implement the reforms we’ve brought about over the past two-and-a-half years, I know our school system will only continue to improve.”

Peacock is the president of Hytrol Conveyor Company, Inc., which manufactures conveying systems for customers with processing, manufacturing and warehouse and distribution needs. He joined the company in September 2014 and became the president on June 1, 2015.

The North Carolina native graduated as a Distinguished Naval Graduate from The Citadel in 1984 with a bachelor’s degree in history and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps (USMC). He graduated from Webster University with a master’s degree in management in 1990.

After departing the USMC, David has held positions of increasing responsibility at Rubbermaid, Textron, JLG Industries and Kalmar Industries before joining Hytrol.

Peacock is married to Amye, a 22-year retired veteran of the United States Air Force, and they currently reside in Jonesboro. They have a daughter who resides in Austin, TX.

“I’m honored and humbled to be appointed by Governor Sanders to serve on the State Board of Education,” Peacock said in the release. “Education has opened countless doors in my own life, and it’s a privilege to now help create those same opportunities for children across Arkansas. Partnering with parents and communities to prepare our students for the many paths ahead is both essential and inspiring. I look forward to working alongside the Governor, my fellow board members, communities and families across the state to ensure every student has the opportunity to succeed and thrive.”
