Red Wolf Women Rattle off 19 Threes in at Louisiana

Lafayette, LA – Contributed) – Arkansas State (22-7, 13-3 SBC) set the record for most made threes against a Division I opponent in program history with 19 hit in the 92-66 win over Louisiana (4-24, 2-15 SBC) Saturday afternoon at the Cajundome.

Arkansas State shot 45 percent (31-of-69) and 40 percent from the arc (19-of-48), with Louisiana finding 41 percent of their shots (25-of-61). Both Mia Tarver and D’Arrah Allen scored 17 points, with Aniyah Ruddock hitting 12 and Zyion Shannon totaling 11.

Slow to start, A-State didn’t take the lead until over halfway through the first quarter. A 10-2 run in the last three minutes established the Red Wolves, up 15-7 after 10 minutes.

The second quarter, the Red Wolves erupted, knocking down eight threes to balloon the difference to as much as 21. Shannon scored all 11 of her points in the period, landing three threes and a pair of free throws. Tarver and Allen also joined in, both hitting two triples each. A-State left the half up 44-25.

Both squads traded points throughout the third quarter, A-State only adding two points to their lead with a 74-53 score after 30 minutes. In the fourth, A-State kept their foot on the gas with an 11-0 run fueled by a set of layups for both Allyson Ferguson and Bella Weary.
