Prosecutors present hot check report to Craighead County quorum court

Jonesboro, AR – JonesboroRightNow.com – Prosecutors with the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney for the 2nd Judicial District presented their annual Hot Check report during Monday night’s quorum court meeting.

“The Hot Check Program ended on April 1, 2021. However, we are still in the process of winding down the program, and it will be for many years,” the report read.

According to the report, the office received $10,217.51 from the Craighead County Sheriff’s Office that were to be entered as payments received from defendants in the Hot Check program. During the 2025 calendar year, the prosecutor’s office distributed $19,384.46 toward merchant restitution and $3,770 toward merchant fees.

Additionally, $2,899.95 was disbursed into prosector fees. The total check amount for 2025, excluding journal entries, was $26,054.41. Meanwhile, the current balance in the Hot Check Trust account, which is with Simmons Bank, totals $28,653.41, according to the report.

The quorum court unanimously accepted the report.
