Marana, AZ – Contributed – Led by junior Jake Lile, the Arkansas State men’s golf team continued its record-breaking start following the second round of the NCAA Marana Regional at The Gallery Golf Club.

Lile turned in a career-best 8-under par 64 to set the program record for lowest round at any NCAA Regional. Monday, sophomore Cole Kirby set the previous record with a 7-under par 65. With his 64, Lile surged from a tie to 37th to a tie from eighth individually at 6-under par 138 and possesses the program record for low 36-hole total at a NCAA Regional topping Thomas Schmidt’s mark of 2-under par 142 last season at the Auburn Regional and his own even-par 142 at the 2024 Austin Regional. His round consisted of an eagle on the par-5 16th, seven birdies and a lone bogey.

Senior Thomas Schmidt followed up an opening-round 3-under par 69 with a 1-under par day and is tied for 17th at 4-under 140. Schmidt had a pair of birdies and one bogey on the round Tuesday. Kirby is 31st overall at even-par 144 (65-79) while Milan Reed (+2) and Jake Wallis (+2) are among players tied for 39th. Wallis fired a 6-under 66 while Reed had a 1-over 73 in the second round.

A day after recording a program best 7-under par in the opening round, the Red Wolves carded a 14-under par 274 to stand third on the leaderboard. Host No. 18 Arizona leads the way at 35-under 541 while No. 5 Oklahoma State is second at 25-under 551. No. 8 LSU (-18), No. 29 Duke (-14), No. 20 Alabama (-12), No. 33 Clemson (-7) and West Virginia (E) complete the top eight. A-State’s 36-hole total of 555 is a 36-hole program best at any NCAA Regional topping the previous mark of 6-over par 574 on the par-71 course in the 2024 Austin Regional.

A-State begins its final round of the first tee at 9:00 a.m. (CT). Live streaming coverage is available via Babygrande Golf while live scoring is available on Scoreboard.

The low five teams and the low individual not on those teams following play in the final round Wednesday advance to the finals May 29-June 3 at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, Calif.
