Jonesboro, AR — (JonesboroRightNow.com) — July 30, 2025 — Circuit Judge Doug Brimhall announced his campaign for re-election to the Second Judicial District, Division 4.
The Second Judicial District makes up Clay, Craighead, Crittenden, Greene, Mississippi, and Poinsett counties.
“Serving as your Circuit Judge has been the honor of my lifetime,” Brimhall said. “Every day on the bench, I am reminded of the profound responsibility to uphold the rule of law, protect our shared values, and deliver justice that is swift, equitable, and rooted in the Constitution. I am running for re-election because I believe in the strength of our communities and the importance of a judiciary that reflects integrity and fairness for all.”
Brimhall graduated from Jonesboro High School in 2002, earned his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from the University of Arkansas in 2006, and received his Juris Doctor from Faulkner University’s Thomas Goode Jones School of Law in 2009. He founded Brimhall Law Firm in 2010, handling diverse cases across district, circuit, and federal courts, and also served as a part-time Deputy Prosecuting Attorney in the Second Judicial District from 2021-2024.
He was elected as circuit judge in 2024.
“I’ve seen firsthand how the judicial system impacts lives—from families in crisis to communities seeking accountability,” Brimhall said. “My experience as a prosecutor, private practitioner, and now judge has equipped me to handle our district’s challenges. I remain dedicated to applying the law as written, defending constitutional principles, and fostering a courtroom built on trust.”
In a May 2024 incident, Brimhall was arrested at his home for aggravated assault on a family or household member. He pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of harassment in September 2024 and received one year of suspended imposition of sentence. Brimhall was sworn into office on Jan. 1, 2025, despite pleading guilty to the misdemeanor charge.
“We should not judge anyone solely by their darkest day, but by their commitment to growth and service thereafter,” he said. “I’ve learned valuable lessons in my life and career, deepening my resolve to serve with humility and excellence, always putting our district first.”
Brimhall is married with four daughters. The family attends First Church in Jonesboro.
