WCTV reported that both Widick and the bicyclist, a 14-year-old boy from Havana, were traveling south on U.S. 27. Widick was in the outside lane, while the cyclist was on the road’s paved shoulder. Widick’s vehicle “failed to maintain lanes,” traveled onto the shoulder, and hit the cyclist.

Widick left the scene of the crash, and the cyclist was transported to an area hospital, where he died from his injuries, according to WCTV. The wreck occurred Saturday, May 16, at 9:44 p.m. near the intersection of U.S. 27 and John Yawn Place, the Democrat reported.

The Tallahassee Democrat reported that the Widick fled the scene and was later found in Leon County, where deputies performed a traffic stop. She was detained by the Florida Highway Patrol and arrested on charges including suspicion of driving under the influence.
