According to a probable cause affidavit, the victim told police that Barnett had become angry when she asked her friend to leave the apartment. While Barnett was yelling, she climbed on the chair the victim was sitting in and struck her in the face. Barnett then kicked the victim in the knee and shin.

Officers noted visible redness to the victim’s face and swelling to the lower left knee/shin area, consistent with the victim’s statement.

Barnett was arrested and booked into the Craighead County Detention Center as a result. The affidavit noted that the victim was 70 at the time of the assault.

The following day, Barnett appeared before District Judge Tommy Fowler. He found probable cause to charge her with second-degree domestic battering – physical injury, a Class B felony.

Barnett is being held on a $75,000 cash/surety bond awaiting her next scheduled court appearance on Sept. 30.
