Jonesboro Opens Applications for Mayor’s Youth Advancement Council

Jonesboro, AR – JonesboroRightNow.com – The City of Jonesboro has opened up applications for the 2026–2027 Mayor’s Youth Advancement Council (MYAC).

The program, recognized as a 2025 Volunteer Community of the Year initiative, serves as a bridge between the city’s youth and its local government. It is open to students entering grades 9 through 12 who reside in the Jonesboro area.

MYAC is a commitment to active service for youth chosen to take part. Selected members participate in a wide range of initiatives designed to build professional skills while providing tangible benefits to the region. Key responsibilities include:

  • Civic Engagement: Working alongside city leaders to represent youth voices in local government decisions.
  • Community Service: Partnering with local nonprofits and supporting major local hubs.
  • City Improvement: Participating in beautification projects and neighborhood clean-ups.
  • Project Management: Organizing outreach initiatives and programs like “Stuff the Bus” and “The Giving Tree.”

How to Apply

The deadline for all applications is July 1, 2026.

  • New Applicants: Incoming 9th through 11th-grade students can apply via the official City of Jonesboro portal.
  • Returning Members: Current members wishing to serve another term must also submit a reapplication by the July deadline.
