Jonesboro, AR – JonesboroRightNow.com – A Jonesboro man is being held on a $500,000 bond after police said he stalked his ex-girlfriend for months before attempting to kick down her apartment door.

On March 5, Jonesboro police officers responded to a residential burglary in progress at a home on Griffin Street. Officers met with the victim, who said her ex-boyfriend, 20-year-old Nortoris Dequan Davis, had just tried to force his way inside. Police noted clear signs of damage to the door jamb and mud at the bottom of the door, consistent with it being kicked in.

According to the probable cause affidavit, the victim heard Davis demanding that she open the door, stating he knew she was inside. The victim told officers the incident was the culmination of multiple instances of harassment. On the night of the attempted break-in, she said Davis had called her more than 20 times and had been spotted hiding near a trash can a few hours earlier when her sister arrived.

The victim explained that Davis had been tracking her movements, showing up uninvited, and following her wherever she went, leaving her scared for her life. A search of dispatch records corroborated her fears, revealing the victim’s number had been used to call police 13 times since December 2025.

Previous reports involved Davis coming to her home, assaulting her, and following her to a motel where she had fled in an attempt to get away from him.

While verifying Davis’s criminal history, officers found he had prior convictions in 2024 for first-degree terroristic threatening, possession of a stolen firearm, and theft by receiving of a firearm.

“These prior convictions within 10 years, constant unwanted calls/appearances at her locations, and now the forced entry attempt give rise to the fear that Davis is a direct threat to [the] victim’s safety, forcing her not to feel safe in her own home,” the affidavit stated.

A bench warrant was signed on March 5, and Davis was arrested later that morning at 11:11 a.m.

Davis appeared before Circuit Judge Barbara Halsey, who found probable cause to charge him with three felonies: aggravated residential burglary (Class Y felony), criminal attempt (Class A felony), and first-degree stalking (Class B felony).

In addition to the $500,000 bond, Judge Halsey ordered Davis to have no contact with the victim and to wear a GPS ankle monitor upon release. He is currently being held in the Craighead County Detention Center, awaiting his next scheduled court appearance on April 23.
