Jonesboro, AR – Jonesboro Right Now – Police arrested a Jonesboro man after they said he attempted to intimidate a witness in his brother’s firearm possession case.

On Aug. 22, Jonesboro police officers went to Garden Manor for a disturbance and met with the victim, who said multiple men, including 26-year-old Charles Edward Beare, arrived at his home and threatened him.

According to a probable cause affidavit, the victim told officers that Beare’s brother was recently arrested for stealing the victim’s firearm.

After the arrest, Beare came to the victim’s apartment and asked him if he was going to drop the charges. The conversation escalated, and Beare told the victim to come around the corner to “shoot it out.” The victim was unsure if Beare was actually armed.

Officers located Beare on David Cove and saw the same vehicles that the victim had previously described.

When officers met with Beare, he admitted to speaking with the victim but only about a different incident. Regardless, he was placed into custody.

On Aug. 24, District Judge David Boling found probable cause to charge Beare with one class B felony: Intimidating a witness. He is being held on a $50,000 cash/surety bond awaiting his next court appearance scheduled for Sept. 30.
