Jonesboro, AR – JonesboroRightNow.com – A Jonesboro man faces multiple felonies after police said he choked his ex-girlfriend until she could not breathe and threatened to kill her.

District Judge David Boling found probable cause June 1 to charge 18-year-old Asher Kai Revel with the following:

  • First-degree terroristic threatening/threatens physical injury or property damage (Class D felony)
  • Aggravated assault on a family or household member (Class D felony)
  • First-degree false imprisonment (kidnapping)/risk of serious injury (Class C felony)
  • Third-degree domestic battery (Class A misdemeanor)

According to the probable cause affidavit, on May 31, Jonesboro police officers responded to a home on Caribbean Drive for a domestic disturbance that had already occurred. The victim explained that she had come home from Bentonville to visit family and had been seeing her ex-boyfriend, Revel.

According to the affidavit, Revel texted the victim around 7 a.m. the day of the incident to come over to his house. When the victim got there, she said he was allegedly under the influence. He began telling her how much he hated her. Revel then slapped the victim in the face a couple of times and threw her onto a bed. At one point, the victim tried to leave, but Revel grabbed her throat and sat on top of her.

The victim told police that while she was being choked, there were several times when she couldn’t breathe. When the victim was let go, Revel said that if she tried to leave, he would “blow her head off” as well as his own. The victim then began to throw up.

The victim said she had left her phone in her vehicle when she went inside the home because Revel had broken multiple phones in the past, leaving her without a way to call for help. The victim was able to leave around 2 p.m. when Revel fell asleep.

Police noted the victim had redness behind her ear, and she told them her jaw felt swollen from where he had grabbed her and held her down by the face and throat.

Revel was arrested at 10:34 p.m., according to the online jail roster. He is being held on a $50,000 cash/surety bond and was ordered to have no contact with the victim. His next court appearance is scheduled for July 30. If convicted on all charges, he faces up to 23 years in prison and fines up to $32,500.
