Jonesboro, AR – Jonesboro Right Now – The Jonesboro Human Development Center (JHDC) will be inviting the community out for a day of local art and food vendors in October with its next Community Yard Sale and Craft Fair.

The event invites arts and crafts and secondhand vendors, as well as food trucks, to sell their wares. Funds raised from selling vendor spots will go to benefit the JHDC’s Employee Relations Committee, which provides additional benefits and appreciation events for employees.

The JHDC hosted a similar event in late May. It drew over 300 attendees and about 40 vendors.

“It ended up being such a great success. We had a great turnout of not only vendors but people in the community as well, and our residents had some fun with it, too,” said Dustin Azlin, JHDC health program coordinator. “We figured it doesn’t need to be just a one-off. We could go ahead and do it again in the fall when maybe it’s a little cooler.”

In addition to raising money for the Employee Relations Committee, Azlin noted the fair served as a way to show off the JHDC campus

“We’re this tiny, hidden little gem out here in woods behind Fox Meadow, and I think all of us as staff really enjoy showing off what we have here to the community,” he said.

The JHDC has been in operation for over 50 years. It provides 24-hour residential services for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Residents receive vocational, recreational and life-skills education, as well as medical care, counseling, speech therapy, and more.

Vendor spots are $25, or $40 to include tables and chairs. Food truck vendor spots are $25, and trucks will be required to provide their own electricity.

To sign up to be a vendor, call 870-932-4043 and ask for Lilo Stickler. Azlin said interested parties should sign up early to guarantee a spot.

The Community Yard Sale and Craft Fair is scheduled for Oct. 24 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the JHDC, located at 4701 Colony Drive.
