Piggott, AR – Contributed – Where better to immerse oneself in the art of personal creative writing than to visit the location where one of America’s most revered writers spent time behind the keys of a typewriter?

The Hemingway-Pfeiffer Museum and Educational Center (HPMEC), located in Piggott, will host a writer’s retreat from Monday, June 22, through Friday, June 26.

“Writers have the opportunity to work in the barn studio where Ernest Hemingway wrote during his visits to Piggott,” said Shannon Williams, director of HPMEC.

Registration for the event is $325 for the general public and $300 for museum members. This event is structured to be interactive, where collaboration is encouraged.

“This is a time where friendships are formed, craft is honed, and creativity is enhanced,” Williams added.

This retreat is happening during the time that Greg Brownderville, the 2026 writer-in-residence at HPMEC, will be in-house. He will conduct a reading on the final day of the retreat at 2 p.m.

“Not all writers come with something in mind to write, but many do,” said Williams.

This retreat will allow writers to collaborate and inspire and be inspired by others. Several activities will take place, including craft talk, writing, mentoring and reading.
