Jonesboro, AR – JonesboroRightNow.com – A Forrest City man is being held on a $750,000 bond after authorities said he led police on a high-speed chase through Jonesboro while armed with two handguns.
On March 27, Arkansas State Police Trooper Daniel Willey attempted to stop a vehicle for a window tint violation near Interstate 555 and Harrisburg Road. Instead of pulling over, the driver, identified as 28-year-old Raheem Tredone Lashun Garry, accelerated and drove recklessly through multiple streets and intersections. According to the probable cause affidavit, Garry disregarded traffic signals and reached speeds up to 123 mph.
The chase ended on Glitterman Drive when Garry abandoned the vehicle and ran on foot. He reportedly ran inside a home, exited through the back door, and continued running through nearby yards, damaging a fence in the process, before being arrested shortly after.
Investigators learned the vehicle Garry was driving was equipped with interior cameras. After obtaining consent from the vehicle’s owner, police reviewed footage showing Garry holding two handguns as he exited the car. Officers also contacted the owner of the home Garry ran through, who directed them to where the firearms had been discarded.
The affidavit noted that Garry is currently on parole and under active supervision, citing a “lengthy and violent criminal history.”
Garry appeared before District Judge David Boling on April 2. Boling found probable cause to charge Garry with the following:
- Possession of firearms by certain persons (Class B felony)
- Fleeing in a vehicle (Class C felony)
- Tampering with physical evidence (Class D felony)
- Possession of a Schedule VI substance, less than four ounces (Class A misdemeanor)
- Fleeing on foot (Class A misdemeanor)
- First-degree criminal mischief, $1,000 or less (Class A misdemeanor)
- Left of center (Unclassified)
- Failure to obey stop sign (Unclassified)
- Failure to stop at red light (Unclassified)
- Driving a vehicle with improper window tinting (Unclassified)
- Speeding more than 15 mph over the limit (Unclassified)
As a condition of his $750,000 cash or surety bond, Garry must wear a GPS ankle monitor upon release.
Garry’s next court appearance is scheduled for April 23. If convicted on all charges, he faces up to 36 years in prison and fines totaling $38,000.
