Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – Fisher Street Community in Action (FSCIA) is accepting toys for its annual Christmas Toy Giveaway Drive-Thru.

During the giveaway, which is set for later in December, community members will drive up and receive a free toy for their child or children aged 0-12.

“This particular area is a low-income area, but the toy drive is not just for the north side; the toy drive’s for this whole community,” said Rev. Dr. Charles Coleman, CEO of FSCIA. “Those kids are truly in need because most of these parents, they just don’t have the money to do it [buy toys]. And so, it’s been a very important issue and actually a very important service.”

The giveaway will be a drive-thru event. All those seeking donations for their children must be in a vehicle, and those without a vehicle are asked to find a friend with one. Children must be in the car to receive a toy.

A flyer advertising the event said toys given will not be exchanged, and that batteries may not be included.

On the day of the giveaway, volunteers will approach cars, asking parents for the number of children, their ages, and their gender. That will determine what toy kids get, Coleman said.

Coleman said while the nonprofit had already received toy donations, it still needs more. Toys can be new or gently used.

Those wanting to donate toys must inform FSCIA leadership by Dec. 18, and volunteers will arrange a time to pick up donations. To donate, contact Coleman at (870) 680-0561 or at crcjab@spcglobal.net, or Juanita Huggins at (870) 761-0674.

For monetary donations, make checks to FSCIA and mail them to P.O. Box 1046, Jonesboro, AR 72403.

The giveaway will be Monday, Dec. 22, from 4 to 7 p.m., or until supplies run out. It will be at 315 N. Allis St., across from the Fisher Street United Methodist Church parking lot.

“It’s the sentiment of giving back to the community, that’s what Fisher Street Community in Action is all about in the first place,” Coleman said. “This is just our way of doing it.”
