Engineering and Computer Science Awards for 2025-26 Presented at A-State’s Convocation of Scholars

Jonesboro, AR – Contributed – The College of Engineering and Computer Science at Arkansas State University presented graduating student awards during a Convocation of Scholars awards ceremony, according to Dr. Abhijit Bhattacharyya, dean of the college.

Landon Elliot Rogers of Jonesboro received the Chancellor’s Scholar Award and 4.0 Scholar Award as the college’s graduating senior with the highest overall grade point average. He will graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) degree.

The three other recipients of 4.0 Scholar Awards are Andrew Jayden Orr of Roland, Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (BSCE); Logan Daniel Smith of Marked Tree, BSCE; Christopher Glenn Sayers of Cabot, Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE).

Departmental awards were presented to the top graduating seniors and graduate students within each academic degree program. These awards include the Citizenship Award and the Outstanding Achievement Award.

The Citizenship Award is presented to a student within each degree program who has demonstrated their engagement in mentoring other students, student clubs and activities, and being a good ambassador for the college.

The recipients are Kyle Gabriel Jones of Booneville, Master of Science (MS) in computer science; Trevor James Blythe of Salem, Bachelor of Science (BS) in computer science; Asib Ridwan of Faridpur, Bangladesh, MS in mechanical engineering; Sarah Grace Bullen of Hot Springs, BSCE; Tyler Christopher Baugus of Cabot, BSEE; Mauricio Bautista Aguilar of Xalapa, Veracruz, Mexico, BSME; Chandler Scott Robinson of Paragould, Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in land surveying and geomatics; Gibson J. Hance of Greenbrier, BS in engineering technology; Tazmar Janoy Dawkins of George Town, Cayman Islands, MS in engineering management; Rylee M. Sisco of Benton, BS in engineering management systems; and Brooke Catherine Gerau of Jackson, Mo., BS in construction management.

The Outstanding Achievement Award is given to the individual with the highest GPA within each academic degree program.

The recipients are Kyle Gabriel Jones of Booneville, MS in computer science; Joseph Wayne Kadin Cowell of Ozark, BS in computer science; Kolton L. Smith of North Little Rock, Bachelor of Arts in computer science; Md Torikul Islam of Kushtia, Bangladesh, MS in civil engineering; Logan Daniel Smith of Marked Tree, BSCE; Christopher Glenn Sayers of Cabot, BSEE; Landon Elliot Rogers of Jonesboro, BSME; Gabe A. Fowler of Vilonia, BS in land surveying and geomatics; Nana Yamazaki of Toyama City, Japan, BS in engineering technology; Tazmar Janoy Dawkins of Irbid, Jordan, MS in engineering management; Shane M. Lawrence of Plain City, Ohio, BS in engineering management systems, and BS in construction management.
