Jonesboro, AR – JonesboroRightNow.com – Agents arrested a man after they said he was found to be selling meth and was caught with narcotics at a Jonesboro residence.

During a drug investigation, the Second Judicial Drug Task Force received information that 41-year-old Nicholas Marquette Scott, of Conway, was selling meth in Jonesboro. Agent Tanner Huff later worked with a confidential informant (CI) to arrange a controlled purchase from Scott.

According to the probable cause affidavit, the CI contacted Scott by phone to organize the exchange. Agents provided the CI with buy money before the informant met Scott at a predetermined location to complete the transaction. Afterward, the CI turned the purchased meth over to agents. Once the substance field-tested positive, authorities issued an arrest warrant for Scott.

On April 14, agents located Scott at a home in the 1800 block of Cedar Heights Drive. While conducting surveillance, they saw him carrying multiple bags to a vehicle parked in the driveway. When agents approached to make the arrest, Scott ran back inside the house, but officers successfully apprehended him near the back door.

A subsequent search of the vehicle yielded a black backpack Scott had been carrying. Inside, agents found a digital scale with suspected residue, Scott’s wallet and credit cards, and an additional bag containing 19.3 grams of methamphetamine.

Scott appeared in court two days later before District Judge David Boling, who found probable cause to charge him with:

  • Delivery of meth or cocaine greater than 10 grams but less than 200 grams (Class Y felony)
  • Possession of meth or cocaine with the purpose to deliver greater than 10 grams but less than 200 grams (Class A felony)
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia (Class B felony)
  • Use of a communication device (Class C felony)

Scott is being held in the Craighead County Detention Center on a $100,000 cash/surety bond and must wear a GPS ankle monitor if released. His next court appearance is scheduled for May 18. If convicted on all charges, he faces up to life in prison and fines totaling $40,000.
