Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – City Water and Light (CWL) crews are working a water main leak on Caraway Road.

The leak occurred in front of Center Court Plaza on Caraway Road. Goodwill, Burlington, Planet Fitness, and other businesses are housed in the area.

Slade Mitchell, energy marketing administrator for CWL, told JRN that work by a private contractor was going on in the area when a water main was affected. He said CWL crews were dispatched to diagnose the problem.

“Our understanding is the line that’s leaking is a customer fire line,” he said. “Don’t know exactly which businesses or units that fire line serves, we don’t have that mapped as it’s not part of our system.”

He said crews had valved off the affected line and that the Jonesboro Fire Department had been notified as work continues.

He added that some dirt may be in the road and that police were on scene to direct traffic. Mitchell said it was currently unknown how long and the extent of how traffic might be affected.
