Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – Caleigh Parker knew something was up as soon as she rounded the corner headed home Tuesday evening. There were people and vehicles standing in the middle of Cypress Springs where she lives. Why were they there? Caleigh was being honored as the winner of the 7th annual Light Up Their Hearts promotion presented by Ground Crew, LLC, Fat City Steak and Grillhouse, 104.9 The Fox and Mix 106.3 radio stations from the Jonesboro Media Group.

The radio stations conduct the contest in early November by seeking nominations. In past years the contest has honored a first responder, a teacher, a tornado victim, a foster family, a veteran and a business who gives back. This year the contest targeted a special caregiver, foster parent, neighbor, or volunteer who gives their time, energy, and heart to others.

Tonya Benefield, a Pre-K teacher at University Heights Elementary School, nominated Caleigh.

I met Caleigh when her son Canaan was placed in my preschool classroom.

I quickly realized that Caleigh was more than just a mom and a professor at ASU. She has a heart for giving back to her community.

She is the executive director of Arrow Adoptions and that title doesn’t tell the half of what she does.

She is the birth mother’s point of contact.

She works with the adoptive families.

She supports the birth mothers from the beginning to the end and longer.

I love watching her talk about “her” children. The ones she placed with a family.

Caleigh herself has 4 amazing children. 2 of them are adopted.

She is married to Colby who is supportive and just as involved.

Caleigh is also a doula. She travels all over to help moms have a safe birth. She is their advocate, their support, and their words when they need her.

Caleigh Parker is a mom, a wife, a huge part of our community in so many ways, and she is humble and kind and her smile can light up a room!

With Tonya’s nomination, Caleigh was named the winner. The team from Ground Crew, LLC arranged for Tonya to be out of the house and spent most of the day Tuesday hanging lights and decorating Caleigh’s home. Fat City Steak and Grillhouse provided a $500 Visa Gift Card to Caleigh and her family.

“The house is so beautiful,” Caleigh said. “I am just so thankful to have so many friends and a great family.

Residents can view the decorated at home through the holidays at 4014 Cypress Springs Road.
