Jonesboro, AR – JonesboroRightNow.com – The new owners of the former Lazzari’s Italian Oven property have been identified, and the building that served the community for three decades is scheduled for demolition as early as this month.

Meredith Edwards, a realtor for Coldwell Banker Commercial who represented the buyers, confirmed Tuesday morning that the lead buyer plans “to demolish the building this month.”

While the structure will be cleared, Edwards noted that the buyer preferred not to disclose the future plans for the property at this time.

Craighead County real estate records indicated the 1.14-acre property at 2230 South Caraway Road was purchased by Efren and Aracely Montano/Efren Victor Montano.

The Montano family owns several prominent commercial properties across Jonesboro. JRN reported that in March 2024, the family purchased The Shoppes at Hilltop for $11 million.

Sales history records indicate the South Caraway property was purchased for $1 million. The transaction was finalized Feb. 18 and filed with the Craighead County Circuit Clerk on Feb. 20. The Grantor in the sale was DFBF Properties LLC, a holding company linked to the previous operators of Lazzari’s that had owned the property since 2011.

While the Montano family has not officially announced what they’ll do after the demolition, Edwards previously noted they have “exciting plans” for the location that will “further support the continued growth along Caraway Road.”

Lazzari’s Italian Oven has operated in the building since opening in 1995, serving as a go-to spot for fine Italian dining for nearly three decades before announcing its permanent closure on Jan. 2.

This is a developing story. JRN will continue to provide updates regarding the timeline of the site work and the project plans as they become available.
