Jonesboro, AR – Contributed – The Bill and Alice Nix Spring Farm Day is back.

The festivities will kick off at 10 a.m. and conclude at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 11, at Judd Hill Farmers’ Market, 3350 Aggie Road.

The hands-on educational event, presented by the Arkansas State University College of Agriculture (CoA), celebrates the Natural State’s agricultural heritage and highlights modern farming practices, livestock and crop production.

Attendees can enjoy family-friendly activities, including games, food, music and live demonstrations.

The family friendly activity is open twice a year, once in the spring and fall. Animals may include sheep, miniature donkeys, horses, pigs, bottle-fed calves, and goats.

Admission is free, and no tickets are required.

The petting zoo began in 2006. In 2008, it was renamed the Bill and Alice Nix Petting Zoo. In 2023, it was officially changed to the Bill and Alice Nix Farm Day.  Thanks to the Nix family’s support, what began as a petting zoo has transformed into a “farm day” event for discovery, potentially influencing many for years to come.

“We are grateful to the Nix family and Dr. Kristin Sullivan for all the support in bringing farm day to the public to realize,” said CoA Dean Dr. Mickey Latour.
