Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – May 10,2024 – A Jonesboro man is in the Craighead County Detention Center on a $500,000 bond after being charged with sexual assault and other charges.

District Judge David Boling found probable cause to charge Steven Charles Swain, 45, with second-degree sexual assault, a class B felony, first-degree kidnapping/false imprisonment, a class C felony, and misdemeanor third-degree battery.

According to a probable cause affidavit by Detective Brandon Butler, at 11:37 p.m. Tuesday, officers responded to the 2900 block of Highland Drive about an assault in progress.

When officers arrived, they talked to a female victim who said a man came into the store, walked behind the counter and grabbed her. She said the man groped her breasts and tried to pull her pants down.

During the attack, people came into the store and yelled at Swain, who then left.

Officers viewed the security video and later saw Swain, who they recognized from the video and arrested him.

Swain’s next court date is June 28 in Craighead County Circuit Court.
