ASP: 3 dead in Cross County plane crash, 2 from Jonesboro

Parkin, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – Arkansas State Police confirmed that three people, two of whom were from Jonesboro, died in a plane crash in Cross County on Monday.

According to a news release from ASP, around 3:15 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 6, ASP, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the Air Force Rescue Coordination Center, responded to reports of a missing/overdue aircraft near the intersection of State Highways 75 and 306, west of Midway, AR.

The release said Memphis Air Traffic Control lost radar contact and communications with the plane, a Cessna 210B, while it was traveling from New Orleans to Jonesboro. The aircraft was located around 6 p.m. after a coordinated search, which included personnel from Arkansas Game and Fish and local fire departments.

The plane was found in a “marshy area” south of Highway 306 outside of Parkin, AR.

All three on board, pilot Bob Clark Bolton Jr., of Heber Springs, and passengers Stanley Mitchell and Michael Montgomery, both of Jonesboro, died in the crash, the release said.

According to the release, FAA and National Transportation Safety Board personnel have responded to the scene and have begun a formal investigation into the cause of the accident.
