Jonesboro, AR — (JonesboroRightNow.com) — July 31, 2025 — A Jonesboro woman faces a domestic battery charge after police said she grabbed a child standing in her way and “slung” him across the room, causing him to hit a wall.

According to an affidavit, on July 28, Jonesboro police officers responded to a home in the 1500 block of Horne Drive for a domestic dispute. Officers were previously called to the home that day to check the welfare of 38-year-old Leigh Ann Todd, noting she had been suffering from mental illness.

“During the previous calls, Todd was lucid enough to warrant no police action of mental commitment of any time,” the affidavit said.

When officers arrived, they met with the complainant, who showed them slight bruising on the lip and eyebrow area of a child living at the home. The complainant said that Todd had come down the steps and because the victim was standing in her way, she grabbed the child “and slung him like a ragdoll across the room.”

“When Todd threw the victim across the room, his face allegedly struck a wall, causing the injury noted by officers,” the affidavit said.

According to the affidavit, Todd, the complainant and the child live together.

Officers met Todd in her bedroom, who they said had been acting erratically and refused to tell what happened. She was arrested and taken to the Craighead County Detention Center.

On July 30, Craighead County Judge Tommy Fowler found probable cause to charge Todd with third-degree domestic battery, noting this was her second offense within five years. She is ordered to have no contact with the victim.

Todd is scheduled to be back in court on Sept. 30.
