Monroe, LA – (Contributed) – September 27, 2025 – The Arkansas State football team (1-4, 0-1 SBC) held the advantage early at ULM (3-1, 1-0 SBC) but could not hold on in a 28-16 decision on Saturday afternoon at Malone Stadium.

Junior quarterback Jaylen Raynor completed 29 passes on 46 attempts to accumulate 288 yards through the air. Chauncey Cobb accounted for 126 receiving yards on eight receptions while Corey Rucker recorded nine receptions for 120 yards.

AG McGhee, Brandon Barnes, and Aaron Alexander led the defense with six total tackles while Brandon Greil recorded the Red Wolves’ lone turnover forced in the contest.

Greil picked off Warhawks quarterback Aidan Armenta on the opening drive of the game, returning the interception 32 yards for a touchdown at the 13:34 mark. After forcing a three-and-out, A-State moved the ball 30 yards on seven plays to set up a 51-yard field goal for Clune Van Andel, making the score 10-0 with 2:40 remaining in the opening quarter.

ULM scored a touchdown with 6:39 in the second following a 12 play, 92-yard drive, that cut the lead to three. A turnover on downs gave the Warhawks possession with 2:54 to go, and a 37-yard touchdown pass from Armenta pushed the opposition ahead going into halftime.

The deficit grew to 11 after ULM recovered a fumble at the A-State 45 yard-line and scored on an 18-yard rushing touchdown at the 9:57 mark in the third quarter. Van Andel converted a 43-yard field goal to close the quarter and cut the deficit to five after adding another from 30 yards early in the fourth.

The Warhawks responded with a touchdown on the ensuing drive and A-State was unable to respond as the contest drew to a close.
