Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – A Jonesboro woman faces a fourth driving while intoxicated charge (DWI) after police said they found an open pill bottle on her when stopping her for driving dangerously.

According to an affidavit, on Nov. 16, Jonesboro police received multiple calls about a dangerous driver. After locating the vehicle, officers moved behind it at Main Street and Oak Avenue, where they saw the defendant drive onto the sidewalk before swerving back onto the road. The driver was eventually stopped at Main Street and Washington Avenue after running multiple stoplights.

Officers approached the vehicle and encountered the driver, 61-year-old Karen Ann Primm. One of the officers noted that, on his initial approach, he saw an orange pill bottle with no lid in Primm’s lap. Additionally, the officers stated that Primm was unable to answer their questions, her speech was slurred, and her responses to their questions were delayed.

The affidavit said Primm was asked to step out of the vehicle, and Standardized Field Sobriety Tests were administered. Primm failed the tests and was arrested.

Primm appeared before District Judge Tommy Fowler on Nov. 19, who found probable cause to charge her with DWI, careless and prohibited driving, and running a red light

Court records show that Primm had been previously convicted for DWI in 2018, 2019, and 2023, making this her fourth offense in 10 years. This resulted in Primm receiving a $25,000 cash-only bond. She was also ordered to wear both GPS and SCRAM monitors upon release, with Fowler noting during Wednesday’s hearing that  she is “a danger to the public.”

Primm’s next court appearance is scheduled for Jan. 23, 2026.
