Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – A man is being held on a $250,000 cash/surety bond after Jonesboro police said he held a woman against her will at a local motel, struck her with a belt, and threatened to shoot her and officers.

District Judge David Boling found probable cause on Jan. 7 to charge 30-year-old Rolando Antonio Iraheta with the following:

• Class D Felony: First-degree terroristic threatening/threatens physical injury or property damage
• Class B Felony: Possession of a firearm by certain persons/prior violent felony with a deadly weapon
• Class C Felony: First-degree false imprisonment (kidnapping)/risk of serious injury
• Class A Misdemeanor: Third-degree domestic battery

According to the affidavit, on Jan. 5, Jonesboro police officers were dispatched to a motel on Mead Drive for a disturbance call. However, upon arrival, officers were not able to find anyone related to the call.

Early the next day, officers were dispatched to the same location and advised that a witness at the scene was talking with the victim and asked to call 911. Officers met with the witness and were made aware of messages from the victim, stating that she was being held against her will by Iraheta, who had a firearm and made threats to shoot her, himself, and police, and he would not let her leave, the affidavit said.

“[The] victim advised that they had been arguing in the evening, and Iraheta became angry and struck her with a belt several times,” police said, noting injuries on the victim consistent with the victim’s statement.

The affidavit stated the victim found a firearm in a trash can in the room and gave it to police. Detectives also confirmed that Iraheta had a past felony conviction and a felony warrant from another jurisdiction.

On Jan. 6, detectives interviewed Iraheta, who confessed to being in an argument with the victim. The affidavit said that he also told them that he hit the victim with a belt during the argument, and admitted to being in possession of the firearm officers recovered. However, he denied making threats or keeping the victim from leaving.

In addition to the $250,000 bond, Boling ordered Iraheta to have no contact with the victim, and upon release, Iraheta must wear a GPS ankle monitor.

Iraheta’s next court appearance is scheduled for Feb. 27.
