Lambda Eta celebrates 45th anniversary

Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – Sept. 26, 2024 – The members of Lambda Eta, the Arkansas State University undergraduate chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., are preparing to celebrate their 45th anniversary this year during A-State Homecoming events on October 4-6.

Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity member L.C. Kennedy, Jr. said on Thursday that Lambda Eta has been serving the Jonesboro community throughout those 45 years and would like to invite the public to join them in celebrating this milestone.

Kennedy currently serves as the Chair of the Fundraising Committee and co-chair of the scholarship committee for Nu Tau Sigma, Jonesboro Alumni chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc., which advises Lambda Eta.

“For over 40 years Lambda Eta has been an unrelenting and powerful force providing service in both the Arkansas State University and Jonesboro communities. Our chapter goals are to live up to their fraternal motto ‘Culture for Service and Service for Humanity,’” Kennedy said. “We accomplish these goals by exemplifying the ideals of brotherhood, scholarship and service.”

There are several events scheduled for the anniversary weekend, including:

Oct. 4

  • A Community Service at 1 p.m. at the Hope House at 111 N. Fisher St. in Jonesboro, which will include donations of hygiene products for our homeless and low-income populations.
  • The Blue and White Meet and Greet at 8 p.m. (open to the public) at Lemonade House Grille at 237 S. Main St. in Jonesboro. It will be an informal gathering for brothers to come together and fellowship.

Oct. 5

  • The Lambda Eta 45th Anniversary Ceremony Program at 9 a.m. (open to the public) at the A-State Fowler Center at 201 Olympic Dr. in Jonesboro.
  • The Blue and White Homecoming Tailgate at 4 p.m. (open to the public) at the A-State Pines Tailgate Area. It will be a tailgate for the A-State homecoming football game.
  • The Sigma Social at 10 p.m. (open to the public) at the Elks’ Lodge #498 at 2113 W. Washington Ave. in Jonesboro. This will be an after-hours social gathering for everyone to fellowship.

Oct. 6

  • A Community Service at 11 a.m. at Consolidated Youth Services at 4220 Stadium Blvd. in Jonesboro, which is intended to mentor at-risk youth and encourage them to be productive citizens. This is followed by a Brotherhood Lunch at 12:30 p.m., which will be a lunch gathering for brothers one final time before their departure.
