BBQ Fest still on schedule

Jonesboro, AR (JonesboroRightNow.com) – Sept. 26, 2024 – Despite the street closure and expected rain, the Downtown Jonesboro BBQ Fest and Music Festival is still on schedule for this weekend, according to Downtown Jonesboro Alliance BBQ Festival Chairman Tim McCall.

Although Main Street from Washington Ave. to Monroe Ave. is temporarily closed now due to a possible building safety concern, he said the closure will not affect the festival a bit.

“The street was going to be closed off and we don’t have any vendors set for that area anyway,” he explained. “The biggest challenge is getting the stage in from the other end of the street.”

As far as the incoming rain, McCall said that wasn’t an issue as the stages were covered.

“Just bring an umbrella,” he said, noting that although Friday might get a little wet, Saturday was still looking decent so far. “The only difference as far as the rain is that I had to buy extra Visqueen to cover the amps. Other than that, we’re good.”

The free festival, which is hosted by the Jonesboro A&P Commission and RightFiber, will begin tomorrow and continue through Saturday in Downtown Jonesboro.

It is expected to be a weekend of food and music between the First National Bank, the Kansas City Barbecue Society-sanctioned Arkansas State Championship, and numerous musical acts.

Saturday’s festival activities include food and craft vendors as well as music throughout the day.
